Abstract. The article examines the genres of Tuvan ritual folklore, in particular, well wish
(йөрээлдер), praise (макталдар) and conjuration (чалбарыглар), which are samples of the ethnocultural traditions of the people. The relevance of the study is due to the increased interest in the issues of national identity in the globalisation era. The mental sphere, language, traditions, and verbal
texts that make up Tuvan folklore are all aspects of the identity manifestation. The aim of the study is
to reveal the ethnic features of ritual genres, which determine the cultural code of the nation and form
the world view and moral principles. The author identifies and describes the themes of family, home,
native land, nature and motifs of wealth, happiness, prosperity, future and past that are characteristic
of Tuvan ritual folklore and define the cultural identity of Tuvinians. Well wishes accompany family
and domestic, calendar, economic and trade rituals and carry positive expression. Ritual texts demonstrate a connection to archaic religious consciousness and a belief in a spiritual connection to the otherworld. The article highlights sacral meanings and symbols reflecting mythological representations of
Tuvinians. Based on the study, the author concludes that well wish (йөрээлдер), praise (макталдар)
and conjuration (чалбарыглар) contain the spiritual community of the ethnic group, ideas about moral and ethical values, demonstrate ideas about moral and ethical values, models of behaviour formed
by the people over a long historical period. The author emphasises that the genres of ritual poetry reflect the mental world of the Tuvan ethnos and preserve the constitutive elements of national identity.
The work is interdisciplinary in nature, touching upon both folkloristics and linguocultural studies.
Keywords: Tuvan ritual folklore, well wish (йөрээлдер), praise (макталдар), conjuration (чалбарыглар).
