Abstract. The article is devoted to studying the linguistic personality of a simultaneous interpreter from the perspective of hermeneutic understanding. The author considers the linguistic personality to be a complex phenomenon, whereby the homo loquens is continuously formed, developed and interacts with the world throughout the communicative situation in which the linguistic personality is a participant. The objective of this study is to describe a complex functional model of the linguistic personality of a simultaneous interpreter. The paper considers the complex functional model of a simultaneous interpreter's linguistic personality taking into account three levels of verbalised representation (according to Yu. N. Karaulov theory) and non-verbalised representation (kinesics, oculesics, prosody). The verbal and non-verbal level of representation is carried out from the perspective of linguocognitive and linguofunctional analyses. The undertaken analysis of the simultaneous interpreter's linguistic personality takes into account individual functional and stylistic differentiation, ways of translating linguocultural realia, analysis of translation difficulties and incorrect translation solutions, individual variants of translation of precedent vocabulary, anthroponyms, toponyms, phrase-clichés, other bilingual oppositions, prosodic referents in simultaneous interpreting. The first stage of the research is dedicated to examining the verbal aspect of the linguistic personality representation. The factors determining the purpose of translation, the translation strategy, the choice of tactics, the translation technique and the transformations are all considered. In the second stage, the article analysed the non-verbal behaviour of the interpreters by observing somatic reactions, which are represented by kinetic, oculic and prosodic somatic reactions. The author analyses the extra-linguistic components of communication, the interpreter's environment, and the interpreter's non-verbal behaviour based on the assessment results of the verbal and non-verbal behaviour of the interpreter's linguistic personality. The application of linguocognitive and linguofunctional approach is realised by the methods of discourse analysis, interpretation analysis, transformation analysis, and syntactic analysis.
