Abstract. This work continues a series of researches devoted to the study of the linguistic nature of paradoxicality. The article considers phraseological units as a means of expressing paradoxicity within the framework of techniques of estranging and making aphorisms in the stories of D. I. Rubina. The use of phraseological units as one of the most striking means of creating a paradox has determined the relevance of the study, since lexical units often become dominant means of doing it. The semantic transformation of phraseological units (PU) in the context is associated with the contextual transformation of their internal form, which creates expressiveness, originality of reflection of the author's worldview. One of the interesting techniques for creating a comic effect is a language game. It is a result of structural and semantic transformations of phraseological units: creation of individual author's phraseological units with a zoonym component, individual author's aphorisms. During structural and semantic transformations, the author forms the original units of speech. They express the individualized conceptual content of the text of the work.
Keywords: phraseological units, paradoxes, "estranging" technique, transformations of phraseological units.
