Abstract. In the proposed article, the author addresses one of the important issues related to the
study of the linguistic potential of the region. The appeal to regional linguistic peculiarities in the study
of Russian at school and university by native speakers is already a well-known fact in didactics. But in
the methodology of teaching Russian as a foreign language, for a long time, it was only about studying
linguaregional studies in general. However, in recent decades, linguists, teachers, and methodologists
have increasingly been talking about the fact that without turning to the peculiarities of studying the
linguistic uniqueness of the region, it is very difficult for foreign students to develop communicative
and cultural competencies at the proper level, and it is difficult to go through all the stages of sociocultural adaptation.
With the help of linguoregionology, a foreign student can significantly enrich knowledge and feel
more comfortable in Russia, especially at the first stage. According to the author, the studying linguaregional studies is a great step towards mastering a large and interesting volume of information
related to the culture and history of a specific region of Russia. Taking into account the cultural and
linguistic diversity of the Russian Federation, the author argues that students learn more deeply about
the whole country with its traditions, languages, and history by getting to know each individual region.
The article presents the results of the author's work on how to best present linguaregional information to foreign students and what possible content blocks such information can be divided into. In
addition, the article pays attention to the issue of turning to the study of linguaregional studies in the
event that students are not in the country of the language being studied, as well as if students studying
Russian are themselves native speakers of another Slavic language.
Keywords: Russian as a foreign language, linguaregional studies, regional culture, regional history, onyms, dialects, regionallects.
