ANTHROPOMORPHIC CULTURAL CODE IN LEV TOLSTOY’S PEDAGOGICAL DISCOURSE

Abstract. The article studies L. N. Tolstoy's pedagogical works using the methods of conceptual analysis. The base of the research is the theory of the internal form of the word and the idea that the productivity of cultural codes speaks about the features of language and thinking. In particular, the internal form of the keywords of the concept "School" in the writer's works is based on basic images, which in turn correspond to cultural codes. The productivity of the anthropomorphic cultural code testifies to the features of categorization and conceptualization of the world by the philosopher. The specificity of the functioning of cultural codes in L. N. Tolstoy's pedagogical works reveals through comparison with national metaphors. For this reason, the author analyzed a layer of proverbs and sayings about school, teaching, and education.
