The article compares cultural connotations of zoonyms denoting New Year symbols of the Chinese calendar, which are present in the Chinese and Russian cultures. The aim of the research is to reveal the means of interpreting Chinese calendar signs, which are used by modern media and commercial organizations to attract Russian-speaking customers.
