Abstract. The study of the history of any state always affects its economy, which is one of the most
important factors of its development. The Bosporan Kingdom was the largest Greek colony in the Northern
black sea region. It was located on both sides of the Kerch Strait. This article examines the economic
development and varieties of economic complexes of the Bosporan state, their General structure,
characteristic features inherent in each described economic entity as well as their role in ensuring both the
internal market of the state and external trade relations. Among the important components of economic
complexes there are, for example, economic pits and clay barrels-pithos used in agriculture, wine presses
used in wineries, fish salting baths the complex of which was located on the shore of the Kerch Strait in the
area of the Bosporan city of Tyritake. During the description of the complexes, the article highlights the
most significant and major sectors of the economy of the Bosporan state, such as agriculture, viticulture,
fishing, craft. The author describes the features of the organization of economic activity in these sectors of
the economy, employment in those or other processes, the influence of geographical conditions on the
economy, the types of products used by the inhabitants of the Kingdom, and the ones produced for export.
In addition to these industries, the article deals with gardening, horticulture and animal husbandry. The
author also describes the crisis processes in the economy of Bosporus in late antiquity and their impact on
the development of production, addresses the topic of interaction with barbarian States, and provides
information about the process of naturalization of the economy of the Bosporan Kingdom, its reorientation
to the domestic market.
