Abstract. The work is devoted to the consideration of symbolic meanings realized in Russian-language verbal texts of culture. Precedent language units (phraseological units, paremias, winged words and related phenomena) of an anthropomorphic semantic field were chosen as empirical material. For the typological description, precedent language units were selected, which are included in five groups with support tokens: head, nose, eye, Lip. The study adopted the following scheme of a systematic description of designated groups: 1) the word base, 2) its derivatives, relevant for the implementation of the same symbolic meanings, 3) symbolic meanings with illustrations of language units of a precedent nature, 4) individual comments on the implementation of these symbolic meanings in other precedential verbal texts of culture (names of literary works, films, some images of well-known texts of author and folk attribution, having a well-known verbal embodiment e, etc.). An attempt was made to determine the symbolic meaning of the key token not by the value of the precedent unit as a whole, but by the momentum for the formation of this unit, for its folding, and most importantly, for the need for its reproduction by native speakers gives this token. Sources of language material for the analysis of meanings and their subsequent illustration were personal observations of the author and surveys of native speakers, as well as lexicographic publications. The study of the symbolic potential of certain lexemes in precedental verbal units can be objective only in the case of repeated reference to it by different scholars and its diverse discussion. The interpretations proposed in the article are naturally considered as one of the replicas of a possible discussion and naturally suggest the possibility of their correction.
