Abstract. This article looks into the dynamics of associative series in native speakers of the Russian
language under the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic. The author carried out the experiment by conducting an Internet survey on the Google Forms platform. The choice of lexemes for the dictionary was
carried out by searching for keywords that were most often used in the media during the introduction
of quarantine in the country. Based on the materials obtained during the association experiment conducted with native speakers of Russian (the main selection criterion was the point "native language"),
the reactions to the words-incentives that could be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic were analyzed:
home, street, medicine, holiday, transport, study, disease, vacation, government. The obtained information
is modeled into psycholinguistic concepts of these lexemes. The author compares the associative fields
of these words with the dictionary articles taken from the "Russian Associative Dictionary" edited by
Yu. N. Karaulov. The analysis revealed that there are practically no traced changes in the associative
meanings of words. The internal dynamics affected the words-incentives more: home, study, government. This is due to various factors: the change in the political situation in the country, the revision of
the educational system, the emergence of new educational directions, as well as social ones. To a lesser
extent, the dynamics can be traced in the words-incentives: disease, medicine, street. There are incentive
words in which there were no changes in the associative series: holiday, vacation. The static nature of
the other meanings of the stimulus words emphasizes the internal stability of the meaning of the tokens.
The study of the dynamics of the word meaning is relevant for the analysis of the internal content of the
word, which the dictionary entry may not fix yet.
Keywords: associative experiment, free associative experiment, periphery, concept, semantic field,
connotation.
