Аннотация. Цель работы заключается в выявлении обстоятельств вооруженного поединка между афинянином Диоксиппом и македонянином Коррагом, состоявшегося в период индийского похода Александра Великого. Определяется, что представленные в античной традиции сообщения о данном эпизоде восходят к информации, содержавшейся в сочинении Клитарха. Атлет Диоксипп являлся олимпийским победителем в панкратионе, известным по различным источникам. Его македонский противник был отмечен подвигами на поле боя, но не занимал высоких командных постов. Причиной столкновения стал комплекс противоречий между македонянами и сопровождавшими войско греками, участниками боевых действий и придворными льстецами, воинами и атлетами. Свою роль сыграла и способствовавшая возникновению конфликтов атмосфера македонского царского пира, на котором прозвучал принятый Диоксиппом вызов на поединок. Констатируется, что на состоявшуюся после разрешения со стороны Александра мономахию афинянин вышел обнаженным в соответствии с нормами древнегреческого спорта, а выбранное им вооружение в виде деревянной дубинки и небольшого плаща являлось по своему характеру охотничьей экипировкой. Корраг, напротив, имел полный комплект защитного снаряжения, меч, дротик и ударное копье, явно рассчитывая на бой в духе «Илиады». Во время прошедшего при большом количестве зрителей поединка Диксипп, используя свою необремененность вооружением и атлетический опыт, сумел ликвидировать угрозу, исходившую от имевшегося у оппонента древкового оружия, повалить Коррага и придавить его к земле. Полностью лишившегося возможности сопротивляться македонянина атлет отпустил по распоряжению монарха. Исход схватки был негативно воспринят Александром и македонской элитой, в итоге организовавшей интригу против утратившего расположение царя афинянина. Ложно обвиненный в краже и подвергшейся публичной травле, Диоксипп покончил с собой.
